Join us for fun, friendship and support
Saturday Club is our favourite few hours of the month! Our families come together at Sunbeams Children’s Centre in Lupset to play, chat, drink tea and have a great time. This is a relaxed and very friendly get-together suitable for all the family, so bring siblings, grandparents and anyone else you’d like to meet the group. We have craft activities and our Makaton song bag to join in, if you want to, and we have support from our group’s Speech and Language Therapist. The group meets on the first Saturday of each month, except for August (when we head off on our group summer trip) and December, when we have our family Christmas party. So, feel free to come along next month – we’ll bring the tea and biscuits and see you there!
Here’s what a few of our group members think about Saturday Club:
- “It’s a great chance to talk to other parents and for our kids to meet each other”
- “It’s great seeing the older kids with Down’s syndrome and getting tips and advice from their parents, also being able to help newer parents”
- “It’s a fantastic support network and the best way we’ve found of getting advice from families who’ve been there and got the t-shirt”
- “It’s especially good for siblings to see there are other siblings of kids with Down’s syndrome”
- “It’s a good chance to offload your stresses and worries as well as show off your child’s achievements to other people who actually understand”
- “It’s totally relaxed, and you know you won’t be judged. It’s an opportunity to allow your child to be themselves without having to worry about what other people think – I feel it’s very uplifting”
- “Most importantly, we’ve made some fab friends”
