Nina is 14 and lives with her parents and sister. She has appeared on television and is in Chromosomes R Us – a short video with teenagers explaining the science behind Down’s syndrome. She attends both mainstream and special school and here she explains what Down’s syndrome means to her…
“I have Down’s syndrome—so what? I still have friends and family and a boyfriend. I still like fashion, music, make up and news. I like rock music and go to concerts.
I go to school with my friends and have made friends at mainstream school. I go out to clubs – drama creative and gym club. I have been on Emmerdale and made videos with my drama group and I can do loom bands.
I love shopping and tattoos and hair dye – I want to work in a beauty or hair shop and I am doing work experience in a beauty and dress shop in December.”
